Sister

I never had a sister but I always wanted one. I got a glimpse into this special relationship when I would hang out with Katie throughout high school. Melissa would sometimes tolerate us and when she did, it was always a good time. There was something about getting her to laugh that would just delight my soul. I think it was because she put off this “very cool vibe” and it was fun to be an idiot to try and get her to laugh. I remember following her around in the pool acting like a grandma and she would splash me away. I kept coming back because it was so fun to annoy her 🙂 and eventually she would laugh. Such satisfaction! There was another time when we decided to go to the park in the good ‘ol black rodeo (I can still smell it!) it was dark outside and I was in the back seat and Katie was outside when the sprinklers came on. Katie decided to grab onto the back of the rodeo and instead of driving us out of there, Melissa did a few laps through the sprinklers. Katie was screaming and I was laughing as hard as I had ever laughed in my life. Oh that was fun! After the park we came home and got into a huge cake fight in the kitchen. The kitchen was covered in chocolate cake. These memories are what make life worth living and I cherish them and the people who were a part of them! Melissa was always down for a good time and her laugh was motivation to keep the good times going. She is a precious soul and I am glad I could experience a peek at having a big sister. She will be missed. Lots of love to your family and I’m hopeful we will get to all meet up for another laugh in whatever life happens after this one.

Much love, Brooke
